Assam: Khel Maharan 2.0 kicks off in East Kokrajhar with multi-sport competition  

The second edition of Khel Maharan under the East Kokrajhar Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) began today with a three-day sporting event. East Kokrajhar MLA Lawrence Islary inaugurated the competition at the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) stadium.

Athletics, football, volleyball, kabaddi, cycling, and chess are among the events being held across three venues: KDSA stadium, SAI Kokrajhar, and the Kashibari Sayamaya playground.

The tournament features participants from 28 Village Council Development Committees (VCDCs) within the constituency, showcasing grassroots talent and fostering community engagement in sports.

The opening ceremony saw the attendance of Kokrajhar District Commissioner Masanda Pertin, along with senior sports officials, emphasising the importance of promoting sports at the local level. The competition will run until December 5, highlighting the region's vibrant sporting culture.
