Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Kokrajhar district administration conducted a large-scale war mock drill on Wednesday, May 7 evening, in line with nationwide directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The exercise, held at Kokrajhar Railway Station, formed part of a broader state initiative with simultaneous drills carried out at 23 strategic locations across Assam. Designed to assess emergency preparedness, the operation brought together personnel from the Assam Police, National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Assam Civil Defence, medical teams, and Fire & Emergency Services.
Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Masanda M. Pertin, who supervised the drill on-site, said the exercise strictly followed the guidelines issued by the central government. Speaking to the media, Pertin affirmed the district’s readiness, stating, “We are fully equipped and prepared to handle any emergency situation that may arise."
Officials noted that these drills are part of a nationwide effort to enhance coordination and rapid response capabilities among various agencies, ensuring swift and effective action in the face of any potential crisis.
