Assam: Krishnai Police bust highway robbery gang, 6 arrested in Goalpara

In a major breakthrough, the Krishnai Police in Goalpara district have arrested six robbers involved in a recent highway robbery. The arrests followed a series of coordinated operations across Krishnai, Dudhnoi, Damra, and Bolbola areas.
According to reports, the incident occurred on September 10 at Bormohora along the Paikan–Tura National Highway, where a Bolero pickup truck (registration ML-08J-7509) transporting betel nuts from Meghalaya was waylaid by a group of armed dacoits traveling in an Alto car.
Under the leadership of West Goalpara Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Abhilash Baruah, Krishnai Police swiftly launched an investigation and first apprehended Hemraj Rava from the Assam–Meghalaya border.
Based on Rava’s confession, the police subsequently arrested six others identified as:
Rahul Islam (22) of Gandhinagar, Krishnai
Kalam Ali (23) of Agia Bolbola
Fazal Ali (26) of Bolbola
Ashad Ali (28) of Fafonga 1st Part, Bolbola
Hilsomart Changma (22) of Damra, near the Assam–Meghalaya border
Jyotish Roy (25) of Fafal, Dudhnoi
During the operation, police also recovered an Alto K10 vehicle (AS-01GG-5073) used in the crime, along with rubber items linked to the robbery.
