A 52-year-old man was killed on the spot after being struck by lightning during continuous rainfall in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on July 16. The victim has been identified as Prabhat Roy, a resident of Charakola in Bongaigaon.
According to local sources, Bongaigaon has been experiencing relentless rain over the past few days, creating hazardous conditions. The lightning strike occurred while Roy was reportedly outdoors during the downpour.
Emergency responders recovered the body and transported it to Bongaigaon Civil Hospital, where it is being kept for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors during thunderstorms and to take necessary precautions as the region remains on alert for more rainfall and lightning activity.
