A man has been accused of allegedly seeking money from a resident of Assam's Nagaon district by falsely claiming that the amount was meant to purchase liquor for the district's Superintendent of Police (SP).
The accused, identified as Riyazul Islam, a resident of Garajan Futaljar, allegedly demanded money from Fakar Uddin Ahmed, claiming that he was collecting the amount to buy liquor for the Nagaon SP.
According to the complaint, Riyazul introduced himself as a person closely associated with the Superintendent of Police and allegedly used that claim to solicit money from the complainant.
Following the incident, Fakar Uddin Ahmed lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Riyazul Islam at the Rupahihat Police Station, seeking legal action over the alleged demand for money in the name of the police.
The complainant has urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take appropriate legal action against the accused for allegedly misusing the name of the Nagaon SP to seek money.
