A 40-year-old man, identified as Tabu Das, lost his life after being brutally assaulted during Holi celebrations at Bhairab Baba Path in Bengali Basti, Basistha, Guwahati, Assam on March 15.
The prime suspect, identified as Bekra alias Shankar Biswas, is currently on the run.
According to police reports, the altercation took place while a group of individuals was consuming alcohol. What began as a heated argument soon turned violent, leading Bekra to attack Tabu Das, inflicting fatal injuries.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Mrinal Deka stated, “The incident occurred under the influence of alcohol when an argument escalated into a violent assault. Despite efforts to rush the victim to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), he succumbed to his injuries on the way.”
