A man from Assam has been missing in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh for the past three months, with his family alleging possible human trafficking and accusing an acquaintance of involvement in his disappearance.
The missing individual, identified as Manik Das, a resident of Gohpur, Assam, was reportedly taken to Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh by a man named Sujit Nayak. According to the family, Nayak had assured Das of arranging employment, prompting him to travel to the hill town.
Since then, there has been no communication or trace of Manik Das, raising serious concerns among his family members.
Family sources stated that when they approached Sujit Nayak for information regarding Das’s whereabouts, he allegedly failed to provide any clear explanation. They further alleged that Nayak issued threats when pressed for details.
A formal complaint has been lodged with the police, but officials have yet to make any significant breakthrough in the case.
The family has expressed suspicion that Manik Das may have been trafficked and possibly sold in Arunachal Pradesh in exchange for money. They have urged authorities to intensify the investigation and trace his whereabouts at the earliest.
Police have not issued an official statement on the allegations, and the investigation is understood to be ongoing.
