Following a rise in both minor and major road accidents caused by reckless driving, Margherita Police in Assam’s Tinsukia district have intensified vehicle inspections across key locations in the area.
Authorities are carrying out comprehensive checks to identify drivers violating traffic regulations. According to officers on duty, every vehicle is being thoroughly examined for compliance, including valid documentation, seat belt use, and adherence to speed limits.
While officials have termed the drive as part of routine enforcement, the scale and consistency of the checks suggest a heightened focus, especially in the run-up to Independence Day on August 15. Police sources confirm the operation will continue until the national holiday.
The recent crackdown reflects a broader shift in Margherita Police’s approach, with increased visibility and stricter monitoring aimed at curbing road safety violations that have long gone unchecked in the region.
