Assam: Massive fire in Silapathar causes extensive damage to homes and businesses

A massive fire broke out in the heart of Silapathar early on Sunday morning, around 5:30 AM, engulfing several homes and commercial properties in its destructive path. The inferno, which spread rapidly through the town, caused extensive damage, with property losses estimated in the lakhs of rupees, though authorities suspect the damage could amount to crores.

The fire affected a variety of structures, including a tire warehouse and 10 other businesses, severely impacting local commerce. 

Despite the quick response from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), which worked tirelessly to contain the blaze, a significant amount of property was destroyed before the fire could be brought under control. Many of the affected properties were completely gutted.
