A large-scale healthcare initiative in Dharamsala, Dhubri, provided free medical care to nearly 10,000 people, addressing the pressing healthcare needs of the region’s underprivileged population.
The healthcare camp, led by renowned paediatrician Dr Anisur Rahman, brought together 30 specialist doctors from 11 different medical disciplines to offer essential medical services.
The camp saw the participation of medical professionals from various parts of Assam, including Guwahati. Specialists in cardiology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, medicine, obstetrics, and ENT provided free consultations, medicines, and laboratory testing services. Among them was cardiologist Dr Chandan Madak, who played a key role in offering critical cardiac care.
The initiative was organised by the Dharamsala Ancholik Club in collaboration with the Dharamsala Yuva Manch. The primary focus was to extend healthcare assistance to economically disadvantaged individuals, particularly those residing along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The overwhelming response from locals highlighted the demand for such services in remote areas where access to specialised healthcare remains limited.
Community leaders and social activists praised the efforts of the organisers, emphasising the significance of such camps in bridging the healthcare gap. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative, acknowledging the difficulty of accessing specialist care in their region.
The success of the healthcare camp underscores the urgent need for similar initiatives in rural and border areas where medical infrastructure is inadequate. By uniting medical professionals and community organisations, such programs provide crucial healthcare support to those who might otherwise go without essential medical attention.
The efforts of the Dharamsala Ancholik Club and Dharamsala Yuva Manch set a precedent for community-driven healthcare initiatives, demonstrating the impact of collective efforts in addressing healthcare challenges.
