A tiger that had strayed out of Orang National Park has been successfully captured by the Forest Department after nearly a week-long operation in the Kaupati Tea Estate under Dalgaon area.
According to officials, the tiger had taken shelter within the tea estate for several days, triggering fear and anxiety among local residents and tea garden workers. During its stay in the fringe areas of the estate, the big cat reportedly killed four goats, heightening concerns over human-animal conflict in the region.
The Forest Department initially installed a cage to trap the animal; however, the first attempt proved unsuccessful when a stray dog entered the cage instead of the tiger. Undeterred, forest officials intensified monitoring and installed another cage inside the Kaupati Tea Estate on the following day.
After sustained efforts and careful planning, the tiger was finally trapped in the cage, bringing relief to the local population. Soon after the capture, a team of veterinarians arrived at the site along with Forest Department officials to assess the health of the animal and initiate necessary procedures.
Forest officials said further action will be taken in accordance with wildlife safety protocols, while steps are being planned to prevent similar incidents in the future.
