Sitting MLA Suren Phukan was reportedly driven away by angry residents of Ward No. 7 under Borhapjan Panchayat after he allegedly violated election norms by continuing his campaign even after the official deadline had ended.
According to eyewitnesses, the MLA arrived early this morning to conduct canvassing activities in the area. However, local voters confronted Phukan, accusing him of breaching the election code of conduct. The situation escalated as the crowd demanded that he leave the ward immediately, forcing the legislator to retreat from the scene.
Adding to the confrontation, independent candidate Jonmoni Moran, who is contesting from the same ward, directly questioned Phukan and sought an explanation for his actions. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in political circles and raised concerns about adherence to election rules by public representatives.
