In a shocking case of moral policing, two motorcyclists were brutally attacked by a group of youths in Talguri village under Boitamari in Assam’s Bongaigaon district. The incident took place when Najmul Haque and another youth were returning home to Dhaknabari from Bahalpur.
According to reports, the victims accidentally hit a drum placed on the national highway in Talguri, which was used to slow down speeding vehicles. When they attempted to pick up the fallen drum, a group of four to five youths from Talguri attacked them without any provocation. The assailants thrashed the two men severely before they managed to escape.
Najmul Haque, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at Boitamari Model Hospital. The victim has identified one of the attackers as Tardu Barman, a resident of Talguri village.
The incident has raised concerns over the growing menace of moral policing in the region. Local authorities have been informed, and an investigation is expected to be launched to bring the culprits to justice.
