The Morigaon District Congress Committee on Monday organised a strong protest demonstration against the alleged NEET question paper leak, rising prices of essential commodities, unemployment, and what it termed as the government's anti-people policies.
The protest, held in Morigaon town, witnessed the participation of district Congress leaders along with more than fifty party workers. Protesters carried banners and raised slogans against the government, expressing their anger over various issues affecting students, youth, and the general public.
During the demonstration, Congress leaders accused the government of repeatedly failing to prevent question paper leaks in major competitive examinations, including NEET. They alleged that such incidents have forced the cancellation of examinations on several occasions, causing severe mental stress and uncertainty among students.
The party also criticised the slow pace of recruitment processes, claiming that prolonged delays in appointments have put the future of lakhs of educated youths in the state and across the country at risk. Congress leaders further alleged that the government has failed to provide a permanent and effective solution to the growing unemployment problem.
Another major issue highlighted during the protest was the steep rise in the prices of essential commodities. The protesters expressed concern over the soaring costs of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, life-saving medicines, and other daily necessities. They accused the government of failing to take effective measures to control inflation and provide relief to common citizens.
Addressing the gathering, district Congress leaders said that their democratic struggle against the alleged destruction of the education system, rising unemployment, and unprecedented price hikes would continue.
The protest programme was attended by Lahorighat MLA Dr. Asif Mohammad Nazar, along with several senior leaders, office-bearers, and workers of the Morigaon District Congress Committee.
