In a strong show of public outrage, the residents of Nabeti village in Morigaon district have imposed a complete ban on the entry of Narayan Das, a local businessman who was recently arrested on charges of bestiality.
Das, popularly known as Naru, and the proprietor of the well-known ‘Naru Restaurant’ in Morigaon town, has been at the center of a storm after shocking footage allegedly showing him engaging in sexual acts with pet dogs surfaced on social media.
The viral footage, reportedly retrieved from CCTV surveillance, sparked immediate public anger and condemnation from civil society groups. Several organizations filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Morigaon Police Station, leading to Das's arrest. Police officials confirmed that preliminary evidence supported the charges and assured that a formal investigation is underway. Authorities have pledged that strict legal action will follow in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, in Nabeti village, the local populace has taken an unprecedented step by convening a public meeting where the collective decision was made to prohibit Narayan Das from ever setting foot in the village again. Local women, at the forefront of the protests, have categorically stated that Das will not be allowed entry under any circumstances.
"This time, the people of Nabeti have risen in unified protest. We will not tolerate such disgraceful acts and will ensure he never returns here," said one of the leading women protesters during the gathering.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Morigaon and beyond, with public sentiment demanding exemplary punishment to deter such acts in the future.
