Rakibul Hussain, the Member of Parliament for Dhubri, took oath as a member of six municipal boards and town committees of the Dhubri district on August 3.
During his visit, Hussain announced his commitment to the development of the region, pledging Rs 12 lakh from the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) fund to be allocated among the six boards and town committees in the coming days. "We will all work together in terms of development of the towns in Dhubri District," Hussain stated.
Hussain emphasized the historical and cultural significance of Dhubri, highlighting its untapped tourism potential. "Dhubri has not seen the development it should have seen. It is an old town, a historical place that we can develop for tourism. Gauripur is culturally rich, which also has a huge tourist potential," he remarked.
Addressing the issue of soil erosion, Hussain expressed his plans to bring attention to this critical concern. "Although floods are a major issue, Delhi doesn't understand about soil erosion. We need to make them understand and bring a delegation to see what is true or not. When a person loses hundreds of bighas of land to soil erosion and is forced to live by the roadside as a homeless person and then they are called encroachers, Delhi doesn't understand it," he stated.
Hussain also spoke about the current condition of the Dhubri Match Factory and stressed the need to reopen Rupshi Airport. He announced plans to demand a permanent High Court bench at Dhubri, Silchar, and Dibrugarh, emphasizing the importance of improved connectivity in the region.
In his address, Hussain criticized the BJP party, stating, "The BJP is now fighting a three-sided fight. The Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's condition is not good, you know when you see the face. The old leaders of the BJP are united. Ashok Sharma quitting the BJP is just the beginning, and many will quit the party soon."
