A trail of small, foot-shaped marks leading from the entrance to the idol at the Goddess Kali Temple in Ledo Bazaar Basti has drawn hundreds of curious devotees and reignited faith in the community.
The temple, which had been closed for several days for the Ambubachi observance, reopened this morning for its customary post-festival cleaning.
While sweeping the main hall, a worshipper spotted what appeared to be tiny footprints etched on the stone floor, extending unbroken to the deity’s pedestal.
Alarmed and intrigued, she alerted the temple committee and the resident priest. Word of the discovery spread rapidly through the neighbourhood, with many interpreting the marks as the goddess’s own steps.
Devotees arrived throughout the day, lighting oil lamps and laying fresh flower offerings along the pathway.
