Assam: Nagaon wildlife conservationist Binood Dulu Bora conferred 'Professor of Practice' by Manipur International University

Wildlife conservationist Binood Dulu Bora from Chapanala in Assam's Nagaon district has been conferred the 'Professor of Practice' title by Manipur International University in recognition of his contribution to wildlife conservation and efforts to reduce human-elephant conflict.
 

The honour was presented at a programme organised by Yoga Gurukul Assam, an institution under Manipur International University.
 

Bora has been working with communities in both the hill and plain regions of Assam to promote peaceful coexistence between humans and wild elephants. Through his conservation initiatives, he has sought to minimise human-elephant conflict while raising awareness about the need to protect wildlife.
 

The award was presented in the presence of Assam Cabinet Minister Rameswar Teli, Palasbari MLA Himanshu Shekhar Baishya, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur International University Prof. Dr. Harikumar Pallathadka, and several other dignitaries.
 

The recognition was welcomed by residents of Nagaon and the Chapanala area, with Bora's family members expressing pride over the honour.
 

Speaking after receiving the award, Bora stressed the need for stronger measures to protect Assam's wild elephants.
 

"Wild elephants in Assam are facing immense challenges. Every day, they continue to suffer. I appeal to the government to take all possible steps to ensure their protection," he said.
 

Bora has long been associated with wildlife conservation and has earned recognition for his efforts to engage local communities in addressing the growing human-elephant conflict in Assam. The university said the honour recognises his innovative and sustained contribution towards environmental conservation and community-led wildlife protection.
