Assam: National flag left hoisted overnight at Samaguri school, probe underway

The national flag remained hoisted throughout the night at a primary school in Assam’s Nagaon district after Independence Day celebrations, prompting police to intervene and launch an investigation.
 

The incident was reported from Sonaribali Balika Primary School in Samaguri, where the national flag allegedly remained hoisted overnight after the school authorities failed to lower it following the Independence Day programme on August 15.
 

Samaguri Police reached the school premises on Sunday morning, August 16, and lowered the flag before taking it into custody.
 

Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
 

The incident has drawn attention as leaving the national flag hoisted after sunset is contrary to the prescribed protocol for the display of the national flag, except under specified conditions.
