Assam: One killed, 13 injured in night bus accident in Lakhimpur

One person was killed and 13 others were injured after a night bus travelling from Guwahati to Majuli met with an accident at Naoboicha in Assam’s Lakhimpur district late on Friday night, May 22.
 

Police said the bus lost control near Singra bridge at Dolahat Tini Ali, crashed into a tree and overturned on the highway.
 

The deceased was identified as Dipjyoti Bora (30), a resident of Majuli.
 

The injured passengers were admitted to nearby medical facilities. Their condition is stated to be stable, though some sustained serious injuries.
 

Police and local residents carried out rescue operations soon after the accident. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
