Panic gripped Dipila Komargaon village in Darrang district after over 200 people, including men, women, children, and the elderly, fell ill due to suspected food poisoning on June 6. The incident occurred after villagers consumed maha prasad at a local temple on Sunday evening.
Symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and severe stomach pain began surfacing later that night. As the number of affected individuals grew rapidly, many were rushed to the Patharighat Block Primary Health Centre and Duni Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital for treatment.
Medical authorities confirmed that emergency services have been activated, and the patients are currently under observation. A medical team has been deployed to the village to contain the situation and investigate the cause of the contamination.
