Assam: PM Divyasha Kendra inaugurated at Kokrajhar's Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital

The Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMD-VK) was inaugurated on February 26, at Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar district of Assam.
The Kendra was formally inaugurated by Kokrajhar District Commissioner Pankaj Chakraborty. On the occasion, assistive aids and appliances were distributed to Divyangjan and senior citizens.
The items distributed included wheelchairs, hearing aids, tripods, tetrapods, walking sticks, crutches, commode chairs and stools, wheelchairs with commode, spinal supports, lumbar support belts, spectacles, artificial limbs and other supportive devices.
The PMD-VK will provide assistive aids and appliances to eligible beneficiaries under the ADIP Scheme and the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana. The centre will offer integrated services under one roof, including assessment, evaluation, counselling, distribution of aids and appliances, and post-distribution support.
The scheme aims to address age-related health issues among senior citizens such as hearing impairment, low vision, tooth loss and locomotor disabilities, while also supporting persons with disabilities through necessary assistive devices.
