Assam: PMAY-Gramin beneficiary converts government-sponsored house into cowshed

In an unexpected turn of events, a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin in Margherita has turned his government-aided house into a cowshed.

The government scheme, aimed at providing affordable housing to the rural poor, seems to be misused in this instance.

As per reports, a PMAY(G) which has been allocated to a beneficiary named Bishnu Maya Sunar received Rs 1,47,385 from the government to construct the house but unfortunately, the house has been converted into a cowshed by the neighbour as a beneficiary along with her family members chooses to move to another place.

Notably, Bishnu Maya Sunar, wife of Bal Bahadur Sunar is a resident of Rath Duba Gaon under Ketetong Gaon panchayat of 83 number Margherita Constituency of Tinsukia district.

Local residents of Rath Duba Gaon said we have been living on this Government land for many decades where Ketetong Gaon panchayat have made Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana(Gramin) house at government land as we are not aware of it.
