Assam Police crack down on drugs in Abhayapuri, one held with suspected heroin

Assam Police launched an anti-drug operation near Abhayapuri market in Bongaigaon district, leading to the seizure of a four-wheeler and 23 containers suspected to contain heroin.

According to police, three suspected drug peddlers were travelling from Jogighopa towards Abhayapuri in a Bolero bearing registration number AS 01 FP 4705 when the police intercepted the vehicle and launched the operation.

During the operation, two of the suspected peddlers allegedly managed to flee from the spot, while one person, identified as Ashraful, was apprehended by the police.

Police also seized the Bolero vehicle along with the 23 suspected heroin-filled containers.

The seized items and the apprehended person have been taken into custody, while police have launched a further investigation to ascertain the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotics and trace the two persons who allegedly escaped.
