Assam police seize 110 kg cannabis worth Rs 11 lakh in Mazbat

In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, Mazbat Police, in coordination with the 23rd Battalion of the SSB, seized 110 kilograms of prohibited cannabis during a joint operation in Mazbat. The seized consignment carries an estimated inter-state market value of Rs 11 lakh.

The operation, conducted based on specific intelligence inputs, led to the recovery of the contraband from Sudempuri village of Nozora under Mazbat Police Station. Security personnel intercepted the shipment while it was reportedly being transported from Arunachal Pradesh.

Police have arrested one person linked to the trafficking racket. The accused has been identified as Thajim Basumatary (20) of Guzenpuri village, Nozora. Authorities believe he played an active role in the illegal supply chain operating across state borders.

Mazbat Police confirmed that a case has been registered under Case No. 62/25, and further investigation is ongoing to trace other individuals involved in the network.
