Assam's Gauripur police uncovered a smuggling racket involving buffaloes allegedly trafficked from West Bengal to Dhubri.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation in Gauripur's Folimari Part-ll and seized four buffaloes, exposing a peculiar form of illicit trade.
According to police reports, the smuggled buffaloes were being transported in a vehicle bearing registration number AS-17C-5576.
Upon spotting the police, both the driver and smuggler abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
A raid on the vehicle led to the shocking recovery of two "improved breeds" of buffaloes, along with two cubs, hinting at a well-planned trafficking operation.
The police have seized the vehicle and brought it to the station for further investigation.
Authorities are now probing deeper into the matter to uncover the individuals behind this unusual smuggling network.
