The prime accused in the alleged abduction of the granddaughter of BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri, was arrested from Morigaon on March 17 night.
According to an FIR filed by the victim’s family, a group of individuals forcibly kidnapped the young woman. The case, registered at Morigaon Sadar Police Station under case number 78/25, includes charges under Sections 140(3) and 111(2)(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following an investigation, authorities arrested four individuals, including a 17-year-old girl. While the Juvenile Court granted her bail, the remaining accused—Bhabhajit Medhi, Fizulat Rahman, and Abinash Thakuria Rahman—have been placed in police custody. The alleged mastermind, Armanur Rahman, was also arrested after a thorough search operation. His father, Fizulat Rahman, had been among those arrested earlier.
Law enforcement agencies, with assistance from Guwahati City Police and Golaghat Police, successfully rescued the victim.
