Assam: Prominent jeweller from Margherita goes missing, family lodges police complaint

A well-known businessman and jewellery shop owner from Margherita went missing under mysterious circumstances on Sunday, February 8 afternoon, prompting his family to lodge a missing person report with the police.

The missing businessman has been identified as Gautam Paul, also known as Fagun Paul, a prominent jeweller from Margherita town. According to the family, he left his residence around 3 pm on Sunday for a business-related visit to Tinsukia town, but lost contact shortly thereafter.

Confirming the incident, Gautam Paul’s son Abhilash Paul stated that his father was expected to return home the same day. However, repeated attempts to reach him failed, raising alarm among family members.

Following the disappearance, Abhilash Paul filed a missing person complaint at the Margherita Police Station, after which police initiated efforts to trace the businessman and verify his last known movements.

Police sources said preliminary inquiries are underway, and efforts are being made to gather details from possible locations he may have visited.
