Tension flared up in Buridihing Mouza on Wednesday, May 7 as members of the Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti staged a protest at the office of Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, demanding immediate justice for Junmoni Moran.
The protestors demonstrated by hoisting a black flag at the legislator's office, marking their dissent against Moran’s continued detention.
The student organisation declared that MLA Phukan’s office would remain symbolically "closed" until Moran, who is currently in judicial custody, is released. They also called upon the legislator to intervene and facilitate Moran's release without further delay.
Junmoni Moran was arrested earlier on allegations linked to cattle smuggling, with reports suggesting that MLA Phukan was among the complainants leading to the action. The Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti, however, maintains that Moran's arrest is unjust and has vowed to intensify its agitation until their demands are met.
