Akhil Gogoi, the chief of Raijor Dal and MLA from Sivasagar, has predicted a significant political transformation in Assam with the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
Speaking at a membership drive in Margherita, Gogoi confidently stated that Raijor Dal would secure 20 to 25 assembly seats, becoming a crucial player in forming the next government. He asserted that no party, including the BJP or Congress, would be able to govern without aligning with Raijor Dal.
Gogoi challenged the current political scenario, claiming that the 2026 elections would mark the end of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led "Hindutva" government. He also downplayed the influence of AIUDF, asserting that a Muslim-centric government would not also be able to take centre stage.
"Our aim is to usher in a government that prioritizes the welfare of all communities, ensures social justice, and addresses the pressing needs of Assam’s people," said Gogoi.

The Raijor Dal chief outlined several ambitious goals if his party came to power. These include ensuring water security for agriculture by enhancing irrigation infrastructure, regulating the prices of essential commodities to aid the common man, and revitalizing local businesses by promoting Assamese entrepreneurship.
Additionally, Gogoi promised to boost village economies by establishing small-scale industries in rural areas and transforming Assam into a tourism hotspot with the aim of raising the per capita income to Rs 10 lakh per individual.
Gogoi’s remarks indicate Raijor Dal’s strategy to establish itself as a strong regional alternative to national parties.
By focusing on grassroots development, employment generation, and economic growth, the party aims to connect with Assam's diverse population.
As the 2026 elections draw near, Raijor Dal’s promises and its ability to garner support will be crucial in reshaping the state's political landscape.
