A rare baby otter was rescued at Rudrapad, along the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Tezpur, by a group of vigilant picnickers.
The group discovered the stranded animal during their outing and promptly took steps to ensure its safety.
Following the rescue, the baby otter was handed over to the Forest Department, which will oversee its care and rehabilitation.
The timely intervention of the locals has been lauded as a commendable effort to protect the region's wildlife.
