Tankeshwar Rabha, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC), expressed deep anguish and outrage over the sudden and tragic death of Assam’s beloved cultural icon, singer Zubeen Garg. Speaking at a public meeting in Gamoirimura-Bamunigaon village, Boko, Rabha vowed to seek justice for the late singer.
Rabha sharply criticized the newly appointed Co-District Superintendent of Police (CDSP) of Boko-Chhaygaon, Sandipan Garg, alleging negligence in preventing the incident that led to Zubeen Garg’s death. He called for the immediate suspension of SP Garg, questioning the capability of a police officer who could not ensure his own brother’s safety to safeguard the public of Boko-Chhaygaon legislative constituency.
Further intensifying his demand for justice, Rabha urged the immediate arrest of four individuals — Shyamkanu Mahanta, Sekhar Goswami, Siddhartha Sharma, and Sandipan Garg — alleging their involvement in the chain of events connected to the tragedy. Rabha warned that unless arrests and exemplary punishment are carried out within 15 days, it would imply that the State has abandoned the cause of justice for Zubeen Garg.
Addressing villagers at the gathering, Rabha led prayers for the departed soul of the singer while expressing solidarity with the grief and outrage felt by the people of Assam.
