The Brahmaputra River and several of its tributaries water levels in Dhubri have been steadily increasing due to continuous and heavy rainfall, due to which many villages and chars are submerged under water in the district.
As of recent measurements, the water level in Dhubri is currently 29.33 metres, over the danger level of 28.62 metres, exacerbating the flood situation in the extensive rural areas of Dhubri's, Kuntir Char, Majer Char, Chalakura, Birsingh region, Dimatla, Katlamari, Padmeralga, Fakirganj, and many more have an impact on the rising water level of the Brahmaputra river.
The Brahmaputra River's rising water levels have destroyed the lone PWD road that connected the Fakirganj Bazar and Airkata in the Dhubri district's Fakirganj region. Due to the area's isolation, inhabitants now face difficulties getting access to basic goods and services, such as the only medical communication facilities being disallowed and settlements being inundated under water.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has been coordinating efforts with various agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to manage the situation and provide assistance to those affected.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and efforts are being made to manage the flood risk. Emergency response teams and local administration are on high alert to assist with potential evacuations and provide necessary aid to those in affected areas.
The flooding has impacted a wide area, submerging villages and agricultural land, and causing significant displacement and damage. For the latest updates and safety measures, residents in the affected areas should stay in touch with local authorities and follow advisories from the DDMA and other emergency services.
