Security agencies in Margherita have ramped up operations to prevent any sabotage attempts in the run-up to Independence Day.
The joint effort involves the co-district administration, local police, enforcement teams, and the excise department, who are conducting round-the-clock inspections.
Vehicle checks have been tightened, with officers stopping and inspecting both private cars and commercial goods carriers. The focus is on National Highway 315, a key link between Tinsukia and Margherita, where search operations have been stepped up in recent days.
Officials say the area remains a sensitive zone due to the movement of members from banned militant outfits. Security measures have been in place for the past month, but the intensity has increased as the national celebration approaches.
