Assam: Severe staff shortages plague Karbi Anglong government school

In the remote hilly region of Sosendhana Council under the Karbi Anglong district, Assam, a lone teacher continues to single-handedly educate students at DONGPONJURI LP School. This government-run primary school, established in 1969, has faced chronic staffing shortages that have yet to be addressed by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.

Despite the challenging conditions, the teacher has been managing five classes, ensuring that the children in this backward area receive their basic education. The school's location, at the border of the Nagaon and Karbi Anglong districts, adds to the logistical difficulties, contributing to the longstanding neglect in staffing.

Local residents and parents have expressed their concerns, pointing out that the current situation severely hampers the quality of education their children receive.
