Assam: Sivasagar doctor commits suicide in staff quarter

A somber atmosphere has enveloped the town of Sapekhati in Assam's Charaideo district following the tragic death of Dr Mani Tamang, who was found dead in her government accommodation on Monday.

Dr Tamang, who was stationed at the Sapekhati Block Primary Health Centre, was discovered by authorities in her official quarters. According to preliminary reports, she took her own life by hanging from a ceiling fan in her room.

The incident occurred in the government accommodation provided to her at Kuwaripathar, Sapekhati, where she resided. The exact reasons behind this extreme decision remain unclear, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances leading to her death.

Dr Tamang had been serving at the Sapekhati Model Hospital and was well-regarded in the local community.
