Assam: Spectators agitated over referee’s decision, tin fencing damaged at Bongaigaon football tournament

An unpleasant situation unfolded during a night football tournament at Chalantapara in Assam’s Bongaigaon district after spectators became agitated over what they alleged was an incorrect decision by the referee during the final match.

The final was being played between Khoragaon Football Team and Barshangaon Football Team when tensions reportedly escalated among some spectators following the referee’s decision.

Agitated spectators allegedly damaged the tin-sheet fencing around the football venue. The incident created tension at the spot, following which personnel from Jogighopa Police reached the venue.
