Marking the advent of Magh, the historic Jay Hari Pita Than at Sathikuchi in Tihu witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees on Thursday, January 14 as faith and tradition converged to transform the sacred site into a sea of worshippers. The occasion also marked the commencement of the 33rd Religious Congregation Mahotsav, drawing pilgrims from across Assam.
With the first day of Magh considered highly auspicious, temples across the state reported heavy footfall. At the heart of the celebrations, Jay Hari Pita Than emerged as a focal point of spiritual fervour, where devotees gathered in large numbers to offer prayers and seek divine blessings.
A key highlight of the observance is the annual Garkhiya Seva ritual, a long-standing tradition held exclusively on Magh’s first day. As part of the sacred ceremony, 121 devotees performed the Garkhiya Seva, upholding a ritual that has been passed down through generations and remains central to the temple’s religious significance.
Pilgrims and devotees from various parts of Assam thronged the temple premises throughout the day, reinforcing Jay Hari Pita Than’s status as a major spiritual destination during Magh celebrations. The ongoing Mahotsav is expected to witness further participation in the coming days, reflecting the enduring cultural and religious heritage of the region.
