In a major development under Operation Ghost SIM, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam, in coordination with the Dhubri District Police, arrested another prime accused in connection with STF Police Station Case No. 02/2025.
The accused, Mostafa Rahman, aged 29, son of Mirsab Ali Sarkar and a resident of Pokalagi Part-III village under Golokganj Police Station in Dhubri district, was apprehended during a late-night operation on May 31. The arrest followed a tip-off from Gojraj Military Intelligence, leading the joint team to launch a swift and targeted operation.
During the raid, the police recovered a laptop, two mobile phones, three micro ATM machines, a biometric device, six ATM cards, eleven voter ID cards, along with one Aadhaar and one PAN card. These items are suspected to have been used in various illegal activities, including fraudulent SIM activation and financial transactions.
With Rahman's arrest, the total number of individuals apprehended under Operation Ghost SIM has now risen to eleven. Authorities believe that the accused played a key role in the wider network and expect crucial leads to emerge from his interrogation, which is currently ongoing.
The STF has assured that further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses, as the crackdown on the illicit SIM card and identity fraud racket continues across Assam.
