The Bajali District Students’ Union, responding to a statewide call from the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), inaugurated a three-day celebration of iconic Assamese artist Zubeen Garg’s 53rd birthday at Azad Bhawan on Sunday, November 16. The opening day featured an art event titled “A Day of Colours and Brushes”, organised under the theme “Thought and Creation: Zubeen Garg.”
Students from various parts of Bajali participated enthusiastically, creating vibrant portraits of the beloved singer on canvas. The programme, which began in the morning, concluded at 7 pm with an impressive showcase of creativity and admiration for Garg’s artistic legacy.
The Bajali District Students’ Union confirmed that, in line with celebrations across Assam, the district will continue commemorating the artist’s birthday over the next two days. As part of the ongoing activities, Nahor saplings will be planted at different locations in Bajali and distributed among educational institutions to promote environmental awareness.
The first day’s event ended on a successful note, setting the tone for the remaining festivities honouring one of Assam’s most cherished cultural icons.
