Tension erupted at Karimganj Civil Hospital in the early hours of the morning following the death of a patient, Somnath Banik. A large police team, along with the hospital principal, rushed to the scene to control the escalating situation.
According to the complaint filed by the patient’s relatives, Somnath Banik was brought to the hospital after experiencing a sudden drop in blood sugar levels. Dr. Burhan Uddin Chowdhury, the doctor on duty, examined Banik and administered an injection. However, Banik's condition reportedly deteriorated soon after the injection. The relatives allege that Dr. Chowdhury did not respond adequately to the worsening condition of the patient, leading to Banik’s death.
The patient’s family accused the medical staff of negligence, asserting that timely and appropriate medical intervention could have prevented the tragic outcome. The allegations have sparked anger and grief among the relatives and other patients present at the hospital.
Hospital authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to Banik’s death and to address the claims of medical negligence.
The situation remains tense as hospital operations continue under heightened security. Local authorities urge calm and patience as the investigation proceeds.
