Tension gripped Margherita Bazaar on Wednesday evening after a dispute involving the movement of a cow through the market area led to an altercation.
The incident unfolded when a local resident questioned an individual escorting a cow through the marketplace, asking where the animal was being taken and who had brought it. The query soon escalated into a physical assault, triggering unrest in the area.
In response, members of the Bajrang Dal and the Margherita Bazaar Committee quickly intervened and alerted the Margherita Police.
Law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene promptly and detained the cow’s owner, the buyer, and the youth allegedly involved in the assault. All parties were taken to the Margherita police station for further questioning and verification.
Members of the Bajrang Dal expressed concern over the transport of the cow, particularly in light of the existing ban on beef sales. They urged the police to launch a thorough investigation into the matter, questioning the intent and legality behind the animal’s movement.
The Margherita Bazaar Committee and Bajrang Dal have also demanded strict action against those responsible for the assault on local residents, emphasizing the need to maintain peace and public order in the market area.
