A raid conducted by Kazalgaon Police in Baikhungam village, Assam this morning has stirred controversy and tensions in the community. Acting on a tip-off, police seized a 7.65 mm pistol and two live cartridges from the home of one Jamal Badshah on January 21.
However, during the arrest, local residents intervened, attempting to prevent the police from taking Badshah into custody, which led to a standoff. Eyewitnesses suggest that some villagers believe the weapon was planted in Badshah’s house as part of a larger conspiracy, alleging a malicious plot to frame him.
The discovery of the firearm has sparked disbelief among the locals, with many demanding a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. After discussions with some community members, the crowd eventually allowed both Badshah and the police to leave the area.
Despite this, the incident has fueled anger and unrest among the villagers, prompting calls for immediate action and a fair inquiry into the allegations. Authorities are under increasing pressure to address the situation and clear the doubts raised by the community.
