Assam: Three critically injured as stone-laden dumper rams Bolero on Patharkandi Bypass

At least three people sustained critical injuries in a serious road accident on the Patharkandi Bypass in Sribhumi district, Assam on Thursday, December 18 police said. The injured were immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), where they are undergoing treatment.
According to preliminary information and eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred when a 16-wheeler dumper loaded with stones, allegedly moving at high speed, rammed into a Bolero vehicle that was parked on the roadside. The Bolero reportedly had four occupants at the time of the collision.
The impact of the crash left three passengers severely injured, while the extent of injuries to the fourth occupant is yet to be officially confirmed.
Following the accident, the driver of the dumper fled the scene, triggering anger among local residents. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot, secured the area, and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Police officials said efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding driver, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
