In a tragic incident, three women were killed after being hit by a train near Bamunigaon Railway Station in Assam’s Boko on Monday morning.
The victims have been identified as Uttara Das (50), Rumi Das (35), and Karabi Mali (35), all residents of No. 2 Satabari in Boko. According to reports, the women were out for their routine morning walk when the accident occurred.
The mishap took place near Gate No. 240, close to Bamunigaon Railway Station, at a time when two trains were crossing the section simultaneously. While an NMG goods train was passing through, the Ujanimukha Puri Express bound for Guwahati struck the women, killing them instantly. Eyewitnesses stated that the impact left the victims’ bodies severely mutilated.
Local residents have expressed concern over the increasing number of fatalities in the area. Reports suggest that nearly 20 people have lost their lives in similar train accidents along the Kamakhya–Jogighopa railway line in recent years.
Police from Boko Police Station rushed to the site and have taken charge of the situation. Authorities are likely to review safety measures in the accident-prone stretch to prevent further loss of lives.
