A large crowd gathered in Kokrajhar town on Monday, May 19, for a Tiranga Yatra held in support of Indian soldiers and to show public backing for Operation Sendoor, a recent military action against Pakistani terrorists.
The event, organised by the Kokrajhar District Conscious Forum, began at the Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary and Multipurpose Playground and concluded at Green Field, covering the town’s central JD Road. Citizens turned out in large numbers, many waving the national flag and chanting slogans in support of the armed forces.
This public demonstration underscored growing national support for India's military operations and served as a show of solidarity with the soldiers stationed along the country's borders. The rally aimed to honour their service and bring community attention to their ongoing sacrifices.
Operation Sindoor, recently launched by Indian forces, has been widely seen as a strong message against cross-border terrorism. Monday’s event echoed popular approval of the move, with many participants expressing their pride and gratitude.
Key attendees included BTC Executive Member Arup Kumar Dey, MCLA Rajib Kumar Brahma, Kokrajhar District BJP President Gosai Basumatary, and Vice-President and social worker Thunia Maloo. Civic groups and local residents also joined hands to support the initiative, reflecting a broad-based sense of national unity in the region.
