Assam: Tree branch falls on 4-year-old in Ramkrishnanagar, child dies en route to hospital

A four-year old boy lost his life after a tree branch fell on him in the Fenairbond tea garden area of Ramkrishnanagar under Sribhumi district, Assam. 

The victim, identified as Sarthak Kairi, was reportedly in the courtyard of his home, where his mother was helping him wash his hands and feet. In a sudden and unforeseen tragedy, a branch from a nearby tree broke off and fell directly on the child.

Family members and locals rushed Sarthak to the nearest healthcare facility, from where he was immediately referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) due to the severity of his injuries. Unfortunately, the child succumbed to his injuries en route and was declared dead before reaching the hospital.

The incident has plunged the local community into deep mourning, with residents expressing shock and sorrow over the untimely demise of the young boy.

Authorities are yet to comment on whether any investigation or safety audit of old trees in residential areas will follow in light of the incident.
