Gauripur Police arrested two individuals and seized 750 grams of fake gold during a targeted operation in the Targhat area of Dhubri district.
The operation was launched following a confidential tip-off, leading police to intercept two suspects traveling on motorcycles. During the search, officers recovered two oval-shaped pieces of fake gold allegedly intended for illegal sale in the area.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mannaf Ali, a resident of South Geramari village, and Auran Karmakar, from Ward No. 7 of Gauripur. Both were taken into custody and are currently being interrogated at Gauripur Police Station as part of an ongoing investigation.
Authorities believe this incident may be linked to a larger counterfeit gold network, with more arrests expected in the coming days. Police sources suggest the seized items were part of a planned transaction and may have connections to other regions involved in similar illicit trade.
