A voter in Assam’s South Karimganj constituency has alleged that his four children were expelled from a mosque-run educational setup after he voted in favour of an AGP candidate during the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
According to the allegations, the voter, identified as Giasuddin Khan, faced difficulties after casting his vote for AGP candidate Iqbal Hussain, whose party contested the election as an ally of the NDA. Khan alleged that following the elections, the committee of the Bandarkona Mosque barred his four children, along with his cousin’s child, from continuing their education at the mosque.
Khan further claimed that he has been subjected to intimidation and threats of eviction from his residence in the aftermath of the polls. Alleging harassment over his political choice, he approached the Patharkandi Police Station and lodged a complaint seeking protection and legal intervention.
The allegations surfaced after the conclusion of the Assembly elections in the constituency, where the Congress candidate secured victory by a significant margin.
Police officials have not yet issued any formal statement regarding the complaint or the allegations raised by Khan.
