Tension gripped Dr. Deka's Doom Dooma Polyclinic and Nursing Home following the death of a woman with the family alleging wrongful treatment.
Geetali Gogoi Sonowal, aged 26, was admitted to the Doom Dooma Polyclinic and Nursing Home at approximately 10 am last Friday due to stomach ailments. Tragically, after receiving a needle and saline at around 11 pm the same night, she began expelling blood and foam from her mouth, leading to her demise.
The family promptly alerted Doom Dooma police, who arrived at the nursing home and subsequently sent the body to Tinsukia for postmortem examination to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her death.
Meanwhile, Dr. Pranavjyoti Deka addressed the media attributing the incident to medical complications, asserting that the patient passed away.
A family member voiced their grievances, stating, "On the 5th, we admitted her, and initially, she was doing well. The doctor performed the operation and provided treatment, everything seemed fine. Even after the operation, she was able to talk with her family members on her phone. Then the doctor requested blood, which was given without any issues. However, the doctor requested blood again, and when her family member went to inquire, her mother was with her. After receiving another saline solution, she suddenly complained of feeling hot, pressure, and expressed feeling like she was dying. Suddenly, she regained consciousness and sat up on her own. It's unusual for someone to wake up and sit up immediately after surgery. She seemed to be recovering well; she was communicating with us. We suspect that the saline caused her deterioration, and when we questioned the doctors, they became defensive. They dismissed our concerns, claiming only they knew how to treat. Initially, they mentioned kidney failure, then they mentioned a rupture in the uterus, and the number of surgeries they claimed to have performed kept changing from two to three. Their evasiveness raised suspicions, and only when we involved the police did they finally come out."
